Motivation to Teach Social Action:
I teach social work policy and community work. In my courses, students analyze their internship's political activities or plan their own. They begin with an analysis of their internship institution, combining policy area analysis and the Policy Practice Engagement Framework (including working conditions, living situations and problems of the target group, financing, administrative regulations, etc.).
Using knowledge of social work policy methods, students plan initial activities for political and social change. When teaching as a block course, I design it as a future workshop for planning a political campaign. In community work, students develop concepts for social work services in neighborhoods after conducting community assessments.
I'm interested in integrating more opportunities for practical political engagement into my teaching beyond just planning stages. Before teaching at university, I worked and volunteered in a non-governmental political youth movement as an educator.
Course Description:
In my courses, I do not specify the topics on which political changes are to be planned. Rather, these topics emerge from the students' policy area analysis or community assessment.
Recent student campaign topics include:
- Action against the begging ban in public transport
- Improving access to psychotherapy
- Community dinner initiatives
- Enhanced access to women's shelters
- Addressing homelessness through housing first approaches

Motivation to Teach Social Action:
I teach social work policy and community work. In social work policy, students have been required to analyze their internship's political activities or plan their own. The basis for planning is an analysis of the internship institution, combining policy area analysis and the Policy Practice Engagement Framework (including working conditions, living situations and problems of the target group, financing, administrative regulations, etc.).
Using knowledge of social work policy methods, initial activities for political and social change should be planned and justified. When I teach the seminar as a block course, I design it as a future workshop for planning a political campaign. In community work, students are required to develop a concept for a social work service in a neighborhood after they conduct a community assessment. I am interested in integrating opportunities for political engagement into my teaching beyond planning.
