Social Justice Project Implementation

Motivation to Teach Social Action:

We are still developing the culminating experience for our four-year, minor-like Social Justice Leadership Program at Hanover College. The students can complete any major and fulfill this SJLP minor with a mix of required and elective courses. The final course, SJ461, will be taken in their senior year. In it, students will work in groups to complete a social justice project. A social action campaign may be a good fit; therefore, we are eager to learn more about implementing your model.

Course Description:

In this course, students will learn the skills necessary to implement a social justice project, from initial vision to final completion. Each cohort will focus on two to three campus projects annually. As part of the project implementation process, students will develop skills in grant proposal writing, budget preparation and monitoring, funding competition, project planning, and execution. Additionally, they will reflect on the successes and failures of their projects and assess the outcomes of their efforts.
