Institutes on Teaching Social Action
The in-person and virtual institutes are our signature training for faculty and staff seeking to learn this experiential model for teaching social action by having students do it.
There is no registration fee for these Institutes, but in return we ask that attendees commit to develop a social action course in the 18 months following the Institute and make these five commitments.

Final Prep to Teach Course (Zoom)
This meeting is for faculty who will be teaching social action in the next 2-3 weeks. We will answer any final questions you have about your syllabi and course.
Meet-Ups (Zoom)
The meet-ups are an opportunity for faculty who are actively teaching social action to share how their course is going, what campaigns their students are leading, and to answer questions from other faculty interested in this model.
Summit on College Social Action (Zoom)
This end-of-semester event is an opportunity hear from students and faculty share and reflect on their experience during the semester.
Syllabus Review (Zoom)
The day after the Summer and Winter Institutes, we host a virtual meeting to discuss how the development of your syllabus is progressing. This meeting is for faculty and staff teachers have gone through an Institute, and are developing a syllabus for an upcoming social action class.
Teaching Social Action Across the Disciplines (Zoom)
This virtual meetings is part of our effort to mainstream teaching social action across the disciplines. In the meeting, we will divide into discipline-focused groups to explore how to integrate social action into the various fields, and faculty and staff teachers will develop a brief statement about how teaching social action connects to each academic discipline.
