Motivation to Teach Social Action:

Course Description:

This course explores key categories of difference and inequality in society, such as race/ethnicity, social class, sex, gender, sexuality, and dis/ability. Using a sociological lens, we will examine how these categories are (1) constructed and transformed into systems of inequality, and (2) maintained and perpetuated through macro (e.g., policies and procedures) and micro (e.g., everyday interactions and experiences) levels of society to create differential access to resources (e.g. work, education, healthcare, etc.).
