Motivation for Teaching Social Action:

I created the Advocacy Scholars Program at MSU for Social Work students interested in careers in public policy, advocacy, activism and/or systems change and I teach the capstone course for students in this program: Advanced Advocacy Skills for Promoting Social Justice. This program sounds like a valuable opportunity to deepen the social action focus in this course and for embedding social action education into another course that I will be teaching for the first time in the Spring: SW822 Topics in Policy Practice & Advocacy.

Course Description:

Information and skills for policy practice for advocacy at local, community, agency, state and federal levels. National and international policy comparisons.
